HAPPY 18th JAE

aww, look at her griiiiin. :) she's going to kill me for this.
and this one too!
but becuase its all in the name of love
i know she wont. :)
i can just imagine her going:
'yarrr righttt.'
but really,
i hate her stupid random remarks
which she makes and hides after making them.
i hate how she whines till no end
when she wants sth her way.
i hate that i couldnt be with her to welcome her 18th arrival.
i hate the way i cant sit on her big black chair and be her psychologist.
but
most of all
i hate the way
i love her :)
so to the sanity in my head,
the one who sends me amusing emoticons
the one who would buy me a Michelle Branch CD just cos we we mucking ard with
'are you happy now?'
i know you had a great one.
with love,
char. :)

=) taaa daaa.

Today's weather is amazing. I believe Spring's annoucing it's arrival on us, with the bright sunshine and greener leaves. No more will we see naked branches and willowing, lifeless trees. So, with all the love, I welcome Spring.

Ah hah. This time of the year would also mean i get to wear nice skirts and less bulky things. Though it isnt really my prefernce, I could try wearing a couple of long skirts, some day :) Just to prove some people wrong.

I had this freakish nightmare this morning about someone who killed himself. Crap. Thankgoodness I cant recall the person's face or name. Wah, I'm pretty shocked myself. What was I thinking o_O.

-_-.

Nonetheless, I await Friday with patience.
Oh, and tomorrow I'd be pretty glad as well =) =)

ordinary people

I fell sick with a fever yesterday,
but i wasnt aware of the temperature.
so i lay in bed from 10-11, sponging myself like Mum would do so

minus the familiar voice of 'char, are you okay? shall i get you sth to eat?'
but she shouldnt worry at all, since i'm all right.

Conked off at about 2ish yesterday. i guess my body was really telling me to sleep so -_-.
so i'm up bright and early, doing global politics. =)

Italian National Night - Oh What A Night. -_-.
I'll let the pictures do the talking soon. tomorrow.

Yawn, i need breakfast. =)

Saturday, August 27, 2005

In Adelaide yesterday, Mr Howard agreed Australia could be a terror target.

"I have said for a long time this country can't imagine that it's free from the prospect of a terrorist attack," he said.

-_-

well done.

the sun comes up

i cant tell you why, but i'm actually happy :)

for about 10 mins, i forgot i had a 25% assignment due in 2 days.
gosh, such joy :)

maybe friday i'll go listen to some music :)
MSO. keep thy fingers crossed.

and while i spend my day cooped up focusing on academia,
other people are in the great oceans getting in touch with nature.
why, oh why, am i not there.
Italian National Night. -_-

sing, char, sing :) i dont even remember the lyrics
i'm going to make a clown of myself -_-

coffee, hichew and crunchie to keep me going tonight.
pls, wish me luck.

from paris to berlin

i need to visit switzerland.

the way i like it

heard Bon Jovi's new song - have a nice day?

Ohhh, if there’s one thing I hang onto,
It gets me through the night.
I aint gonna do what I don’t want to,
Im gonna live my life.
Shining like a diamond,
rolling with the dice,
Standing on the ledge,
show the wind how to fly.
When the world gets in my face, I say,
Have A Nice Day.
Have A Nice Day

pftttttt.
Honestly, o_O / -_- / *_*
You get the drift.

I find it pretty amazing that i actually enjoy going to global politics lectures. It's every tues and thurs which invokes this tortuing thought of having to drag myself up at 10AM on both days. And you know what? I always leave feeling so good. Phillip's a great lectuer :)

Given he's the Politics equivalent of our Psychology Maureen. That, by my standards, is as good as it gets.

Undeniably inspiring. Life this semester's cruising well, I reckon.

The overwhelming eagerness in anticipation of the fourteen day break away from University is killing me. (Not really, the assignments turned Sydney away -_-) I make use of every free moment, such as this, to let my mind drift far away from the world on academia to the Dandenongs and The Grampians, staying over at the Suburbs, retail therapy, facials, and absolutely spoiling myself silly during the holidays.

Now, I have too many places on my list to visit.

  1. Juri / Na - states Down Under. :)
  2. WA and CA June next year (plus Hillsongs ! :D)
  3. but hey, Bei Jing is a huge contender.
  4. so is the United States of America
  5. Or - the mother's great idea of visiting India. (we might as well visit Iraq right. Ground Zero)
  6. and next year, i'm going to visit Mae in London (!!!) :) :) :) (!!!)

sehh weeeeeet. I'm loving this :)

The weather report forecasts pleasant weekends! sunny with 21 degrees max. why, suddenly, all things fall into perspective.

thud thud thud bleh.

the media and communications report for Today Tonight bugs me at the back of my mind
but, you know, selective listening (even to my own brain -_-)

it is the impending 2 week coul vacation which excites me.
a real real pity that i'm not joining the bunch heading to Sydney.

WHY. do i have one 40% and one 50% due the day after they get back?
No can do, ladies. (and a few gentlemen)
there'll be another opportunity.

i am making plans for the holidays as of now :)

  • Suburbs, i will visit them.
  • Lion King, i will watch it.
  • Musicals and plays
  • Exercise
  • Shopping ! (oh the lady ness)
  • DVDs and VCDs
  • coffee & catch ups (a must)
  • stay over at yi's then chello and jule's
  • grampians
  • rock climbing
  • horse riding when i get back ! :)

that, i say, is a rather realistic list for the 2 weeks.

why, huh?

i went on my blog visiting spree as i always did
(time waster considering i've got so much on the To-Do list)
and realised
this one is one melancholic, self destructive, painful world
where individuals are drifting in and out of reality.

what happened?
to that
happy small world we inhabited in?

we'll do this together.

so for those who're experiencing difficulties,
(and i might just say so myself)
here's a random picture i found in the papers :)

oh, and here's a good cheers to turning my bio clock inside out.

now or never

This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud

It's my life
It's now or never
But I ain't gonna live forever
I just wanna live while I'm alive
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said "I did it my way"
I just wanna live while I'm alive

It's my life
This is for ones who stood their ground
Tomorrow's getting harder make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky
Got to make your owns breaks

this my life :)

2nd september will be whenyou feel wind in Singapore.
My huge sigh of relief will be heard, i assure you :)
and hopefully some MSO. not sure yet :)

whatever it means

Seems like just yesterday,
you were a part of me
I used to stand so tall,
I used to be so strong

Your arms around me tight,
everything it felt so right
Unbreakable, like nothing could go wrong
Now I can't breathe,
No I can't sleep
I’m barely hanging on.

Here I am, once again
I’m torn into pieces,
can't deny it, can't pretend
Just thought you were the one

Broken up, deep inside
But you won't get to see the tears I cry
Behind these hazel eyes

The noise in the quiet of the night. Words; yelling ; drums.

drums :) :) :)

come what may

come what may
i will love you
until the end of time.

Here I am playing Come What May sung by three different couples. Then, I begin to contemplate: Possibly, Probably, Love. If you could call those dilemmas, i'm stuck at the first one - Probably. For me, relationships have always hung at the edge. Maybe, just maybe, if i take a step back, I might place myself in a better position, rather than be the person who seems 'hard to get'. How does one define 'hard to get', anyway?

Thats my problem, I think. You see, I'm not even sure. Sure, I may be adventerous with other aspects of my life, but there're other instances where I remain reticent. I'd climb a rock, 2400 steps to reach the top and let winds blow me away. (not literally, of course) Whatever my problem is, I doubt it'll go away soon.

Evidently contended with where I am, there's this nagging intuition that this position is too comfortable.

I distract myself well. If i survive the week of the 29th August -2nd Sept, I will go celebrate the week after. Septmeber, I will embrace you with open arms.

the greatest thing is to love and be loved in return.

maybe, we'll see.

you gave us some place to go

i hate it that she's leaving me in exactly a month. 30 days isnt enough.

everytime.

The highlight of my day was seeing this very random person sitting at the cafe. He sat with this bunch of blokes near the tram stop along Royal Parade. It was so interesting, you know, to maintain eye contact with an absolute stranger (and a cute one, at that). Gosh, I don't even know his name.
But whatever it is, i'm back home bumming. I really shouldnt waste my time tramming back and forth since its only abiuot 3 hours. ahh, the little dilemmas in life. thank GOoDness for decisiveness, i made one important one early this morning. Work, more work head.
I believe it is also crucial to be punctual. It really is quite a pet peeve for some. -_-. twice in a day, bad bad record i reckon.
my body has been pampered with 7 hours of sleep for the past two weeks. this explains the fatigue since i got 6 hours laast night? (this morning. whatever)
3 hour breaks are unnecessary.
an VERY randomly, i wish 98.7 was here. mix 101 is killing me.
who plays BackStreet Boy's Incomplete like them?
no one
they're mad. i kid you not.

catch my disease.

I believe the previous entries have not been doing my blog any justice, so here’s an attempt to make this platform one which has more meaning.

Sam: My dear, I’m so happy for you :) you’ve got my blessings and I’m sure two of you make a great great couple. :D I must meet my dear’s prince charming :D

Enjoying every single bit of taking to Charissa and Sam about our exchange students, I am. Actually, there’re only two worth noticing. If you want to know more, msg on MSN, I’ll be glad to share. Sharing is loving, right?

In two weeks, I’ll be pulling my hair out.

29th August (Monday) – GP and Intro to MnC

2nd September (Friday) – PBL and PBC.

Its fun, but..do they really have to do this?

After this semester, I promise myself a far away get aw
ay. Ah, the antarctica.

All I have to say today is,

sleeping at 4 is detrimental.

why?

I skipped a lecture,

an information session

and only went to one hour of class today.

And on that note,

i'm still happy with my subjects this sem.

once in your life

Breaking the habit of typing a daily has been a refreshing change for me. It is breaking away from the idea of, you know, letting everyone know whatever happens in your life or what have you.

I also found it really thoughful of Mum when she e mailed me about 600 words elaborating on the notion of kindness, which and need not necessarily begets itself in return? All this because my nick was 'so much for kindness'. There is no need to go into nitty gritty details with the topic and story, but lets just say it is only economic and just to feed people what they pay for?

okay, some people listen to weird music. i tunes might actually speak volumes about a person's life.

speaking of music, i'm in the IH choir for Italian Night :0) Oblivious to the other performances, i believe we're pretty good, actually.

ah, thank God for the internet :)

becuase no matter how blurry things seem,
there's always that sunshine in the right direction.
because when the clouds clear up
and no matter how different the picture appears.
the picture retains its essense.
becuase its all matter of perspective.

have no fear

Something I wrote (together with Carmen) for the Globe.

Singapore turns 40 !

So we celebrated Singapore’s 40th birthday on Tuesday and Kam Sia (thank you in Hokkien) to Daniel, Our Friendly Neighbour, for your impromptu rendition of Singapura. :D

And who could forget Houston’s oh-so-passionate speech? Oh yes, we may have forgotten the 19374 words about Singapore, but we remember one word – unique.

Just a few things some of those at the back of the dining hall may have missed out on.

Lower high table…

- was all r-e-d (faces included. We <3 free flow of wine)
- tried to contain our nationalistic pride while barely audible national songs were on air. (Unbelievably patriotic, eh?)
- was happily soaking in our one hour of fame. J
- loved …dessert the most

The celebration was more than just food. Or to some, dessert. Well to us, being Singaporean, it was a night of celebrating togetherness among the fours races – Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian. After all, it’s not about the sameness we share, but the special differences each Singaporean has, and the respect we have for one another.

So we rack our brains after a reliable source mentioned that we should condense the 19374 words since very few people actually chose to hear what Houston painstakingly put together. (We still love you, Houston :D

Right. So we’ve just been told this is going to be on the front page. Think. Quick.

But, really, the speech was all about Singapore and our friendly neighbour. Ah, you see, we both happen to have Malaysian roots. Just like one in four of our population. But we dare say we’re true blue Singaporeans at heart.

For one, Singlish rocks. Even Sarah learned kiasu just yesterday. We tend to talk like this lah. If you’re not happy, too bad lor. So while we’re at it, let’s just gently remind you that lah, lor and meh may sound like musical notes but they do not embellish every conceivable sentence. Choosing the right phonetic is the most delicate art. In Singapore, that is. :D

We leave you with a conversation good to have on hand if you visit us. Go figure or ask around. And for more information please visit
www.talkingcock.com

A: Singapore is @#$#%@* hot lah!
B: Yar lor
A:You chope the table, I buy the food.
B: Si Beh Kia Su.
C: What is all this raucous? I seem to catch not ball.
A & B: Eh C, you really CMI leh.

Thursday, August 11, 2005

well, yeah.

lets just say char is rather euphoric tonight :)

1 missed call.

Now with the hours passing,
Theres nothing left here to mature,
I long to find a messenger.
Have I got a long way to run ?
Is there a cure among us,
From this processed sanity ?
I weaken with each voice that sings.
Now in this world of purchase,
I'm going to buy back memories,
To awaken some old qualities.

rip up the board

If you feel all emotional, a little restless and need a song to put your emotions in place, listen to Wo Nan Guo by 5566. Before you brush it off as cliché and passé, I’m telling you it works wonders for me so you see fit.

It’s one of those moments we have in our day that makes us think, what was I thinking? Lets put it this way, some things should just be left to its nature ( : We were in Juri’s room when my love affair with the guitar was rekindled. Now now, my first love is a secret, second love-hate is Melbourne University and my third love has now been replaced with the guitar! J OH MY MA MA.

You know? That reminds me so much of denise khoo. I wonder how she’s doing, how her prelim preparations are and everything that has got to do with her life basically.

That’s the problem with me, I realised. I want to know everything in such a short period of time. Why. See? That’s another question.

Deviating from the depressing and self demented, I shall share the love and tell everyone I’m beginning to feel less ill and incapable as of yesterday. Some smart person told me to drink water every half hour. I took his advice, and today I’m glad I did. ( :

To- do list:
- watch lion king (with Harvard, Carmen and maybe a few others?)
- 40 days of purpose
- have a cuppa with someone and just chill like we’ve got no worries ( :
- walk along the beach or just go to crown for no apparent reason, just to watch the water display. Someone told me it was awesome and not to be missed.
and p.s

WHERE IS THE LOVE?

HO JIA YING JOYCELYN and HER cheezy SMILE (i must be tired of living, hor JAE?)

Empty spaces fill me up with holes
Distant faces with no place left to go
Without you within me ( that just sounds dodgy)
I can’t find no rest
Where I’m going is anybody’s guess
I’ve tried to go on like I never knew you
I’m awake but my world is half asleep
I pray for this heart to be unbroken
But without you all
I’m going to be is incomplete

Its one hour into the second and last day of the weekend.
( i do so with no intention of making the weekend appear long )

So how was everyone's weekend?
(i wonder who actually reads this, but the whole talk-to-yourself affair's working well with me)

the reason why i had the lyrics of incomplete by the backstreet boys was just to show how mad mix101.1 is about the song. Truthfully speaking, they play it at the inhuame frequency of about, i dare say, 20 times a day? And dudes from the blooming radio station, if you went my perfect 10's standards, they'd have serious issues by now.

friday part II

our return to IH was greeted with CHANDY on the bicycle. now, all jaws fall to the floor.

meet kevin. i love his hair now :) and thats affendi as wallflower.

meet james martin. :)

j, come to melb?

really, thank God its friday. the best friday i've had since in got back. the only pang of guilt growing on me is the swearing i made on the tennis court. this, i feel, is growing for several reasons.

the main reason is probably because i go to church on Sundays and am going to have cell from next week onwards (we're doing 40 days of purpose). it is disturbing that i could worship and and cheeck to undo all promises i make whatsoever.

i'm so bushed i cant even process information properly. for the fourth day in a row, i dare say my tennis is improving surely and steadily :) let me apologize just so i can ramble on about nonsense.

had great coffee with Kenny this afternoon. he's probably one of the more engaging, gentlemanly people at IH. of the 260, only about 10 are like him. i've been on a coffee high since 3. ( i warned you this was going to be random right).then we decided to take great photos which would be up soon. i'm so glad i found a new angle. :) inspiration comes on fridays huh.

well, with all things good comes the bad. today was one of disappointment and..contemplation. i try too hard to understand people. and somehow my plan always backfires on me.

i.

need.

&#($&^%(#

the title is such because i couldnt find other decent words to express the pent up anger. you know i hate it when people seek unwanted attention. but no, tonight, i realised i hate feeling absolutely daft. stupidity at its best.
-

how could anyone possibly survive the readings of The World is an amazing place. I mean, HELLLLO, i know it IS an amazing place but that need not come with the whole torture of doing three readings. (none of which are comprehensible, btw) this is a pain in the bum! and i kid you not.

this is such an absolute waste of my time.

little things

because deep inside i'm with you :)

SMASH baby

i was going to blame melbourne university for doing nothing but worsen my love-hate relationship with university life. i won't go in great lengths to describe how pissed off i was with allocate for changing my tutorial venue, but i was upset.

honestly, it wasnt worth a single bit of angst. good thing was, i played tennis to vent it. and boy, tennis is a great way to hit the stress out. :) i need to play tennis more often. plus, its healthy!

parents would love me to lose the whole singlish but then..playing tennis is so shiiiiioooooook lorrr.

oh gosh, that sounded horrible.

tonight, i promise myself i wont sleep at 4.30 am any more. because i'm sick and tired of screwing my biological clock. plus, there isnt any justification for sleeping so late anyway.
-
I’ve seen that ray of light
And it’s shining on my destiny
Shining all the time
And I won’t be afraid
To follow everywhere it’s taking me
All I know is yesterday is gone
And right now I belong
To this moment, to my dreams

sooner than it seems, its turning around :D

is it so hard to believe?

hi hi,
time check - 3.56 am.
its been sometime since i stayed up so late and blogged. but that really isnt significant at all. man, my brain hurts. i promise you this is the result of my flaw. tha damn big flaw.

so today i had a nice conversation with our college's new...exchange student. his name is james martin, a british born chinese. so we usually, you know, snack on chocolate. but he pronounces them as "chalk lerts". hui ling and i were teasing him with british accent :D good fun teasing this guy.

-

Sometimes I feel like
I'm a bird with broken wings
At times I dread my now
and envy where I've been
'Cause that's when quiet wisdom takes control
At least I've got a story no one's told
i've learnt to say
whatever will be will be
i've learned to take
the good the bad and breathe
cos although we like to know our lives got plans
no one knows if shooting stars will land

If we all searched deep within, we'd notice how young at heart we are. Ever wondered how eating popsicles brings unsurmountable joy to us? I’m sure sometime you have or will. I need one of those soul vacations, even if it lasts only 2 days. Or even less, make it a day.
