my Orchids better ogay.

So the poli sci paper was still the most ridiculous thing.

I have survived possilbly the most torturous week of my life thus far and with all the energy I can muster, I will spend on getting to San Jose.

Friday, March 23, 2007

Okay, make that call.

OH MY GOD.

THAT POLI SCI FINAL WAS
THE
MOST
RIDICULOUS
THING.

that has happened this week.

unless tomorrow's Comms final beats it.

Den gets thumbs up for putting up with my unsual ranting, swearing and anger. Thanks hon.

48 hours more before the panic attack ends.

I cant. I really cant!

Many things are psychological. Take the consumption of panadol, gulping coffee or even religion for instances. I am finding it increasingly difficult to absorb anything into my thick skull when my roomies are talking. This is cute though, us talking about my exchange, Singapore, Australia and everything about UCLA under the sun. All the morning of their final.

We're all losing it. Especially when they say thing like, "This abusive relationship with chemistry, its getting serious...but it'll be over in a few hours!!"

I wish I could paint a pretty picture of 8 hour sleeps with coffee and cake. The more insightful description might be coffee, 2 hour naps, reviews, readings, coffee, 2 hour naps...

Dear friends, will reply tags once all this mess is over. BRB, only MSN style.

Transatlantic Love

My intention to pour my heart out about the increasing stress levels for finals this week, up until I read Dada's and Yy's tags. P.S I've got a sexy flip phone.

As a facebook group aptly suggests, FINALS should stand for Fuck, I Never Actually Learnt Shit. Its not in my vocab, these swearing words, but that, that is what I feel right now.

So now I flirt with the idea of joining that facebook group. Or not.

not all peaches and cream

Its finals week in a couple of days and my dear dad knows the pressure is building up. What he doesnt know is Im fighting an unfogriving cough and flu, but I'd rather he stay oblivious.

Sometimes we wish we had bright and shiny lives with happiness intensities that lasted for infinity. But of course, we accept that moments like those live for just about 3 mintues a day.

Yesterday, I received your letter my dears! Thanks Jia, Yingyi, Stephie, Uncle Lee, Bling Bling, Eels and Tiki!! I threw all gentleness out of the window and ripped it open only to realise the envelope was the letter. Big huggles and wiggles to all of you darlings <3 I was exhausted but definitely very touched!! :) :) Miss you guys ferry much!!

Then a few days ago, I was talking to Dad on googletalk, used in civillized cultures by their civillized inhabitants. Okay, so he's in KL visiting the uncles and breaking down the personal agendas when he goes: Dad: I just spent a nice long hour at the Pasar Malam (Night market, for those who arent aware)
Me: Hahaha. Coolies. (because I used that as a form of expession)
Dad: Oh, no coolies there. But plenty of hawkers and side stalls.
Me: OhmyGod daddy, guess what. My toes are laughing.

And if you wonder where I get my sense of humour, if any at all, there you go.

Me in acadeMEia.

I've written tonnes of essays for marketing and how Generation Y has lower thresholds, short attention span, is infamous for being impatient and addicted to the Internet. This very moment, I feel like I've been ranting about myself all along. I am possibly the epitome of Gen Y, the kid who thrives on the internet, fights an obsessive compulsive disorder with her emails and is logged on to facebook every other second there is a break. Not a proud moment, but not a shameful one either. We're manufactured products of the twenty first century and we should be proud of that. In fact, I was asking Yogs why we couldnt find pictures of us for Sports Day. Ah, those were 'film days', before digital cameras came into fashion. Before unscrupulous market predictors came up with fancy obsessions such as touch screen cameras, ipods, cell phones, wireless access and convenience really. It was a land of pagers, huge ass mobiles, fax, walkie talkies and standard tee vee programs like channel 5, 8, 2, 10 etc. I cant imagine a life without all these elements of life we recognize as essentials.

But I can definitely imagine a life without an insne workload and sleeping all day. that life would be ace. Dont deny it, I know you agree.

because its finals week

...and I gain every human right to complain.

I dont get how...

I could possibly get close to decent sleep when my roomate and her male acquaintance whisper into the early morning at 5am.

The professors here arrange all the assignments, presentations to come together in the last week of the quarter, when everyone is the busiest.

The academic system works here. Seriously, there're too many class quizes and tests. It rewards the hardworking and focuses less on understanding. Knowledge over brain power, maybe. The Aussie system is heaps better. Heaps. Need I say more?

Spring break is only a week and a half away but life is so torturous now...

I have a class presentation and an assignment due tomorrow but I'm still typing an entry now.

Later!

spring break spring break spring break

that would be me in 2 weeks time. hawaii and san fran baby!!!

I'll prob also be wearing blue swimmers and but I'll think about the sex change bit.
Kei is right, they're probably dangerous

Skip the blinking

I was about to tell you how quick my weekend flew by when I realised Melbourne made more news. You would probably think that my first casino experience is nothing compared to "More than 400 people queued outside Chadstone's Target store ahead of its 10am opening. "Shoppers ... resorted to stripping mannequins bare once racks were cleared." And I thought Singaporeans were kiasu.

torture of the night

I couldn log on to facebook for 3 hours. Trust me, I was on the verge of dying. And that, is when you can tell an addict apart from a normal person.

My speech has reduced quite a lot these days, like I've got nothing to say. And most of you know thats probably not the case. Would love to say Im under the weather but not when the LA's Sunny for Winter. If its in seach for something irrational, I havent found it yet. Maybe I need some sort of self expression. A dance, some theatre, some singing. Or that I need to be alone because of all the social overload.

But it sure feels like a sore on my side. It bugs me everyday. I guess thats all Ive got to say.

Back to the good ol desert

.

if my parents were here they'd be appalled at the irregular eating times

Warned you once.

Try not to close your eyes or cover you ears.
Let me warn you though, its intense.

and for someone who had abt an hour of sleep the night before who was also tired and hungry, I stayed awake for pretty much all of the movie.

Dont even think about saying goodbye

300's Preview on Tuesday!!

There are many reasons why I love this blog. More so because this is the real deal, well somewhat. If we have conversations now that, is the real deal. SharplyBlunt has been with me since freshman year. Its a place I visit when I want to go back to 1st year, relive IH memories and diary the emotions raw. Given time, I would track back and look at how my writing style has changed. If it has, at all.

So the sun's up and time is five minutes shy of 7am. Im still living in the surreal world where I would prefer to be in the desert than sitting at my desk reading material about Asian American Media. Thank God its intriguing material or I would have succumbed to sleep 6 hours ago. Black Fingernails, sand blowing in your face, rock climbing, cheese & salami, i could go on for a while...

On a micro scale, there're only a few things to look forward to: Facebook uploads, sumitting the op-ed and watchiing 300 on Tuesday!!!

I is...le tired.

Joshua Tree National Park!

I am clean for the first time in 3 days. It has never felt so relaxing to have warm water doing its theraputic pitter patter on my back, oh with the pomegranate scented soap filling the bathroom and not forgetting the squeky clean scrub with my body shop gloves...Aren’t you so glad you now that you know most of what I clean myself with. Scarasm aside:

For the 3 days and 2 nights I was clean of coffee, technology and many aspects of life. Honestly, that felt pretty damn awesome. No contact with the rest of the world but 15 other living beings. Well, including the presence of live cacti and Joshua Trees.

Something tells me my love for nature is growing. Fast. It felt so fine just getting my nails in the dirt, shuffling down the sands and peaks. It’s a little like surfing, except its all dry and desert- like at Joshua Tree. Climbing rocks and discovering caves was quite the bomb. The last thing on our minds was to be clean. Oh and guess what, I met awesome people! By that I mean corny, cute whites, whites who know Chinese, funky Psych majors, and mainland Chinese people who were acrophobic but climbed up with us regardless. Two thumbs up!

Maybe it’s about time for dinner, laundry and to start on 8 weeks worth of readings for tomorrow’s test.

tiffie, who wore everything she had at night

its funny the faces you get when you take a candid

we climbed up hills, the side of moutains. hey, it was whatever that got us to the peak!

Queen Charmaine, Thankyouverymuch.
fte Smaller Alex in Orange

He is the epitome of corny. Ladies, this is Mark.

Everyone except Mark and Taller Alex.

Pictures from my cam are too posed.
Stay tuned for more piccas and crazy unglam shots. Or check facebook.

Stare at the sky

Okay, in about 2 hours I will be off for Joshua Tree to be among wildflowers and the desert. No connection with the world whatsoever.

And praying real hard that on Sunday night I get some divine intervention for the Monday test. Well, the bed called me name. I answered.

Bye me loves. To the desert I go!

Rockabye

Kei, I like this public conversation going on. Not that heaps of people read this or anything. So lets imagine Im talking to you and everyone is just allowed to listen in.

Still full from Bibimbab from Gushi! (you comment) But on a absolutely different note, I have till 12 noon tomorrow to finish a gazillion things on the list. Top two on the list being prep for Asia Am test on Monday and Op-ed due tues. Vandeefool. (you comment)

O andKei, I did a voice recording today! For those who were worried, dont be, my kidneys werent stolen and everything was legit. When I get the video I would definitely show it to you. Or put it up here if it isnt embarrassing or anything. (you comment)

For the first time in a long time, Im gonna be stuck at the desk for a bit. Feel my body's pain. (you comment)

And I meant listen to Renee Olstead's A love that will last or ROBBIE WILLIAM's Something Beautiful. Think of me then. I'll try to remember you when we go on the night hike in my navy blue beannie. I look way cool.

Peace woman. And I'll be sharing a tent with 11 other people. So far, one cute one...

Realise all the (you comment)s, they're when i expect you to have something smart to say. Later kei, send me some Melbourne love.

Cold hands and cool feet

Special K,

you know most times, i think its all about me.

but since all i can give is transatlantic love, you gotta compromise with steph.

try it kei, at your backyard. not your surrender motion, but the actual jumping.
(refer to all the rest like lexus, me and juri.)

life is full of ups and downs and i guess it
doesnt get more serious than slicing garlic bread!!

Oh and Im gonna be on a hike to Joshua tree national park. Sadly, there're no blue pants, and no one to ease my paranoia of fever and pneumonia! Guess what, I got myself a nice blue beanie. Couldnt find an orange one to outdo yours. Boring ol US.

Listen to Norah Jones. She calms my nerves. Oh Kei, you wanna join me in walking a marathon to save babies? go to www.walkamerica.org cos i know you want to.

xoxo.
