where were you while we were getting high?

I get tired just thinking about how exhuasted I'll be at the end of every Wednesday. Its an 11am start with 1 tute, 2 lectures, and 2 more tutes. In case you're wondering, in my situation, thats a pretty tight case scenario.

As if that wasnt bad enough, I get a 9am start once again. Repetition is passe, in my very humble opinion. Thursday mornings will become torturous. I can completely understand that people from this part of the world get up at 6am to do their thing. However, where I come from, we get up at noon. so Hello, you timetable people, as much as we love you for embracing technology and the wonders of alloc8, we would also like LATE tutorials. Thanks.

So apparently there's the silver lining behind the dark cloud. There're 4 redeeming factors to this high unstable equation here.

1) Lectures on Mon have gaps in between and that calls for good coffee and catch up time :D

2) Tuesdays dont begin till 5

3) Fridays remain off. Its against the rule if it isnt. Ie: Long weekend!

4) Thurdays maybe insane and early, but they end at 11. And that also calls for lunch dates and coffee& catch up!

Maybe there isnt a need for much consolation since this timetable gives me ample time to catch up with those I've missed in a while :D Now maybe I'm all set to kickstart the next half of the year.

Bring it on, baby!

maybe we'll let music take control

I'm thinking along the lines of white is the new black. So here's one..: Out is the new in.

It'd probably heal the soul, take control, give power to move any mountain (not literally of course).

Out it is.

Over and Out.

a lil too late

I know its been out for a while but some of Mr Brown and Mr Miyagi's podcasts are hilarious!!

!!!

Seriously. Its 5 am and I'm laughing in soft cos everyone's sleeping.

He's funny! His song, SIAN, is quite amusing:

I tried to cook but not burn my frying pan
MRT door toot toot toot nearly keeeena my hand
all the girls that i know only seeee mee as ffreeen
nah beh live at my block, lift just break down again.

i wake up in the morning and i dont know who i am
i'm sian..
i'm not happy i'm not sad but i sure know where I'm at
but i'm sian..
i'm just walking down the street i dont know what to eat
but i'm sian..
every second every minute every hour every day
i'm sian.
How did I get so SIAN?

All Singaporeans should listen to it once. These are our idiosyncracies we miss from everyday life.

Fourth day of Uni

Its the fourth day into second semester and i was dragging my feet like the world was going to crash on me. I shouldnt make too big a deal about it. Its just a friggin application. But my gosh, its zapping the life out of me. Who knew the most powerful but rapidly weakening diminishing country would have such tedious applications.

Okay, I'm charmaine and I sing anywhere I feel like. Maybe I should just say that. You dont know what you're missing. Sounds good. Or maybe I should just put a picture there. Since they all say a picture speaks a thousand words anyway.

Its right here before me. I'll just sing a song and be satisfied.

sidewalks walking away from the streets we knew

HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA. That was for li. Seriously, darling, my lil fluffy gave you a fright? My bad then. Now everyone can go click on Fluffy or feed it if you'd like.

But thanks li. That was the funniest thing that happened today. Maybe thats rather pathetic. Or maybe its because I declared myself a holiday. No worries, whoever worries, it'll only occur during the first week.

LALALLALALALA. Maybe I should just sing that. RAH... I'm scared. -_-".

because you deserved it

Ignore the last post, it bears little significance to this one now. SO..

What was i going to say?

AHH.

Just because I know she watches this space fairly closely..

Here's a HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THE aboslutely loveable, kissable, huggable, mature, logical, musical, sensational, attractive, charismatic, praiseworthy, breathtaking, self sacrificial, dynamic, domesticated, brilliant, neat, generous, terrific, principled, talented and occasionally (make that consistently) lame JIA.

And because all of the above is nothing but truth,

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY BABE! <3

Note there're 21 adjectives..

It was such a good party! with 23598623497 people (yeah, you get my point, it was PACKED and HAWT for the earlier part) and definitely enough food to feed a developing country. :D We're talking fried wantons (the ones you actually marinate, wrap then deep fry), chips, pancakes. Oh my days! It was fun preparing. Imma getting domesticated..

Okay, I dont think I'm going to class. Now maybe I shouldnt have said that out loud...

Peace out.

its a freakshow in here

Okay seriously. If you want to know more about a girl. Really, guys should really avoid the following:

Stop asking. Stop "wondering" how the "cute friend of yours" is, because she's been fine yesterday, today and will be for the next weeks or so. If you're askin for the 1500th time, I suggest you just quit trying and search for the guts. Just ask the girl for her contact.

And seriously, shut up when you're drunk.

thumbs down and underground

I've been feeling rather thumbs down over the past few days. Its the flu bug. And the sore throat. And the fever. They all add up and truly deserve a thumbs down all the way down to the ground.

Ranting aside, let me touch on the much needed June-July break. It came and went. I feel compelled to acknowledge the past before we categorize these moments 'history' and move swifty along to prep ourselves for the foreseeable challenges. Too often, these moments are conveniently throw to the back of our minds. Journal, boxes, diaries, take your pick.

The past month and a half cruised by and I've really learnt to experience pure joy in something non academic in a rather long time. Salsa dancing did not have a dull moment. I feel like I was desperate for a break. One that would release the evil clutches of Uni to let me free. The days were surreal, salvation and gave me the luxury of time and space to stagger my way through life. Maybe there was a need to turn off the exhaust.

So here's special thanks to those who made the trip back everything worthwhile and more. Those in Singapore know who they are (Plus their random friends and relatives). Those in Malaysia (KL, SUBANG, PJ, KLANG) know who they are too. Those who didnt manage to meet also know who they are.

No worries, no hard feelings. It'll be no time before I this semester flies by anyway.

:)

The advantages of staying up till 3.30 am

Chatting with people who study half way round the world.

Recognizing their sound advice while my joints are aching.

Feeling half asleep while they're practically wide awake.

An open suitcase still wondering if I've left anything out.

Finally understanding why the school kids dont sleep well these days.

Must be because 98.7 plays pretty good dance music in the wee hours of the morning.

Your Hair Should Be Pink

Hyper, insane, and a boatload of fun.
You're a traveling party that everyone loves to follow.

Seriously, PINK? Who your mama!

but, where is the access?

My flight for Melbourne leaves in less than 24 hours but my luggage is merely half full and my room has been in this state of the art mess for days...

Eventually,I will have to leave.

I'm down with a sore throat and occasional fever but that isnt quite the point. My point is, I havent had enough of this holiday. I could recuperate in my air conditioned room for 365 days on end and it still wouldnt be sufficient. But no worries! I'll be back around the 16 of August :)

Last night I had interesting experiences with people twice my age! Our conversations included the likes of handshakes, dancing when you're high and letting girls dance with "friends of friends" (which turned out to be quite a lovely dance, btw!). The end of the night was a tad scary though...

Off I go but stay tuned, I will be back :)

diamonds

you can find the good in everybody, if you just give them a chance. the benefit of the doubt. sometimes, people disappoint you. sometimes they surprise you. but you never really get to know them until you listen for whats in their hearts.

sneeezie whoooozie

You Communicate With Your Body

This isn't as bad as it sounds, it just means that you're a "touchy-feely" person.
You need a lot of affection in your life. And for you, this means both giving and receiving little touches.
Warm hearted, you bond with people easily. In fact, you often feel a little sad when you're not in the company of others.
A little moody, you tend to be controlled by your emotions. But a bit hug always comforts you!

Everyone prepare to get a gazillion hugs from me when I see you. Dont say I didnt give prior warning...

when KL gets too hot

You Are 50% Boyish and 50% Girlish

You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch.
Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes.
You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them.
You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be.

For everything else, there's MasterCard

The problem is, I use UOB. So for me, everything else is anywhere other than Singapore. Where else but across the causeway to Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya! So off I go to the land of Malaysia!

I will be leaving the land which claims they have a Great Singapore Sale. When honestly, it is no where near awesome. A far cry would be an understatement. As you can see, I'm not satisfied with dwelling in one place at a time. Leaving Melbourne next year might actually be healthy for me. Where to, remains a mystery...

People of Malaysia, see you soon! And just in case, its +65 96772880.

I will be rigggggggggght back. :)

set fire to my flame

I feel partially deaf and inaudible now cos we were having such a good time at Wala wala last night. It was definitely great fun chilling with Steph and her cousin, Jon. Definitely want to do the same next Wed, with the same band. :)

Now I'm smiling. HO YEA.

undo the curtains, they look just fine

Spending time in my dad's office is always good time. I used to dread it as little girl. Well, technically I'm still a little girl. Literally. Back to my initial point. Ahh yes, Until recently, I never treasured the moments spent with parents and loved ones. Which, may I add, comes around once in a while with many of our "friends-come-before-family atttitude"

I just spent about an hour just engaging in casual conversation about my life at the moment, and how my dad's always willing to b unfailing support. So I've reached a certain stage in life when I 9finally) realised my parents have been pretty good role models. Sitting there with him made me realise I have this flaw of rebutting without listening. Shooting whatever is at the tip of my tongue without thinking. Worse still - assuming without entirely understanding.

He's taken me to task lately so I better get to it soon!

Wow. Its great to have my dad as a father. Pretty damn fulfilling. And as he often claims, I think its definitely true that there's just gonna be "one of his kind" in long time to come. He is also the father that would get out of bed and save the lives of his 19 yr old daughter and her 2 friends who assume cabs will be available after the world cup sometime at about 5am and sends them right to the comfort of their doorsteps.

Earlier this year before I left again, he passed me Falling Leaves at the airport. I thought nothing of it, especially his unconvincing tagline "its a good book, you should find time to read it". This must be a reason why he isnt in marketing. But anyway, its a highly charged emotional rollercoaster flipping through those pages. And he's just so random right? So I said "Eh Daddy you're very...SUDDENLY you know". (HAHAHHA J, doesnt this sound familiar?)

A few days ago he said "Just for fun, I think i'll get another memoir. Just to make SUDDENLY part 2. And 3, 4 and 5. Until we complete the series. Then we'll start another one."

Hope you enjoyed a slice of my cake.

fine and dandy NOT

okay, I had no intention of worrying anyone who read the previous entry. I am disappointed and thats a fact. But it doesnt render any embrrassment or reasons for wallowing in self pity of any sort.

so stuff it, and we'll see how it goes. after all, there really isnt that much I do but sit here and wait. Right?

all's cool, YO.

PEACE OUT.

Safe flight chandy <3

i would gladly dig a huge hole down the three storeys beneath me and plunge so deep i'll never resurface.

thats how i've felt since i opened my email inbox this evening.

honestly, it couldnt get any worse. to me, this is like the end of the something. not the world. but something with sufficient significance.

pray hard for me cos i believe i need all that right now. a lil late, but there's nothing like being an optimist in a bleak situation right?

the L factor

First up, J you owe me big time. And I better see you on Monday.

Okay, I'm crossing my fingers so tightly that if this holds up any longer, my fingers my drop off. There will always be paranoia. And I'm feeling it to a relatively larger degree compared to the last time. I have made one big merry go round and landed myself in the exact position I lamented the same time last semester. Really. Someone needs to teach me a darn good lesson. Either that, ir I better learn this tigh rope dance prety damn well. And since I'm oft misunderstood, I meant that figuratively.

So in this very second, I honestly dont care if the Comfort Taxi booking fares have shot up. Or if Singapore's in need of native English speakers. Or if France beat Portugal. I honestly couldnt give a flying 2 sheep.

Let me be the self centered cow that I would otherwise pounce upon and condemn.

Thanks.

We'll just have to wait and see

You Are 37% American

America: You don't love it or want to leave it.
But you wouldn't mind giving it an extreme make over.
On the 4th of July, you'll fly a freak flag instead...
And give Uncle Sam a sucker punch!

Fingers crossed, we'll just have till wait for next year to explore that 63%. Who knows, I might even end up finding myself there like Charissa did.
